You already know that Quiero Arepas (the arepera formerly known as El Caribe), Stick It To Me, and Biker Jim will be teaming up with Cafe Con Leche, the Cuban cuisine contestant in the Great Food Truck Race, to throw down a big fat party at Great Divide on Sunday, but we just learned this evening of another sure-to-be-legendary street food party that’s happening as a part of this weekend’s Food Network invasion in the form of The Great Food Truck Race, Denver edition.
Korilla!
Korilla BBQ, the Korean taco/burrito powerhouse from NYC has teamed up with Steuben’s, Street Eats, and Crock Spot and they plan to rock the block at Steuben’s restaurant (map) in midtown both Saturday and Sunday. It sounds a bit risky for a competitor to put all their eggs in one location basket, as it were, but it’s a sweet location to be sure. It also has the added bonus of being a local favorite brunch destination – which may be a draw on an otherwise difficult Mother’s Day Sunday.
At the Atomic Cowboy
In other news, it seems like EVERY vendor and their mother is going to be at the Atomic Cowboy (map) tomorrow. Since I live a block away, I’m already planning to have to park a mile away. At first we heard it was going to be Hodge Podge and the Denver Cupcake Truck. Then Lime got on board. And then Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese did too. And Roxy’s is working with Chicago Louie’s. Does that mean he’ll be there too? I have no idea.
Right now we know that Cafe Con Leche will be at Cuba Cuba til 9, Seabirds will be at Sweet Action til 9, and obviously Korilla will be at Steuben’s until 7 tomorrow night. Everyone else will be at the Atomic Cowboy.
Sunday’s schedule is looking pretty spare. Korilla will be at Steuben’s and the great Cafe Con Leche party will be at Great Divide. The other 4 vendors have yet, as far as we know, to lock in Sunday locations.
Schedule Updates As We Get Them
Throughout the weekend, I’ll be updating the Great Food Truck Race Denver schedule post here at DenverStreetFood.com whenever I hear of someone getting booted, moved, pulled on a challenge, etc. So, keep checking that post out, peeps, and tweet me @snarf_sd if you have news to share! Comments welcomed, too, as always. And please – in the spirit of supporting these vendors – both the out-of-towners and our local folks – encourage your friends to get out and eat this weekend. Spread these posts far and wide!
