It’s been a busy week over here at DenverStreetFood.com – not because we’ve been posting much (we haven’t been – what’s up with this whole job business?!), but because we’ve been getting lots of email and we’re barely keeping up! This is what we’ve learned this week:
- El Caribe is slinging out arepas at assorted farmer’s markets in town (Cherry Creek Wednesdays and Saturdays, City Park on Sundays) and they bought a truck a few months ago! I can’t wait to see arepas on wheels!
- The CrockSpot is serving up slow cooked goodness at Cherry Creek (Sat and Weds) and Stapleton (Sun) Markets and are looking to start serving up their fine grub in the downtown area soon. I’ve got my eye on them for sure!
- The Justice League has their next event slated for ThursdaySeptember 16th – be there or be hungry! Also – the Little Orange Rocket from Deluxe Street Food will be there! Yay for the Justice League for getting some new wheels in there!
- A reader (Brian??) wrote in to remind us that we haven’t mentioned this whole Food Network Food Truck competition since voting opened! So head to the Great Food Truck Race website and cast your vote for your favorite! There’s a sweet little pink truck up in Boulder that’s getting all my votes. Who are YOU voting for?
- Saul from Bubby’s BBQ wrote in to let us know that there’s a big barbecue competition in Parker this weekend, and that he’ll be there. He’s working on a truck, too and I’m waiting for pictures! He also assured me that everything he serves was a vegetarian before it was barbecue. Ha!
- Taste of Colorado! This is the weekend, Denverites, where all of your favorite restaurants become street food vendors. I know it doesn’t really count, but half of the joy of street food is eating outside and people watching. Head down to Civic Center park all this weekend – starting today! – to get your grub on! I’ll be there!
- Great Divide Brewing continues to host my favorite street food vendors, making me the happiest girl in the world. I’m planning on getting their schedule up, but I think CrockSpot is there on Sundays (Hello, Denver Cruisers Sunday Fun Ride!) and I think that the Basic Kneads Guys will be there Mondays and Wednesdays – at least they were this week. I’ll figure that out.
- Speaking of Basic Kneads, they just posted to FB that they’ve devised a new pie for fall: Roasted green chiles, roasted onions, and cheddar cheese. Holy shit. <drooling>
There’s some other stuff brewing, too, but more on that in a bit. Keep the news coming, people! What else is going on?!
