A beer and FREE pizza happy hour!
We’ve been posting a lot lately about the zoning situation and not a lot about where you can find great grub. We hope to make it up to you with this delicious tidbit, though.
Eric and the Bakken Brothers of Basic Kneads Pizza have a pretty little surprise for you, Denver: As far as they know, America’s first wood-fired pizza oven aboard a food truck. And they built the thing themselves, tearing apart an old FedEx step van, if you can believe that. Eric writes on the Basic Kneads Blog
Just as we make pizza from scratch, starting from Colorado-milled organic wheat, they started from scratch with the truck, and will do everything from changing the spark plugs to casting the oven out of high-temperature concrete….
After much research, we decided that the best way to accomplish our goal of a wood-fired oven in our truck was to do it ourselves.
And to encourage you to come marvel at this beautiful new addition to our growing army of food trucks, they’re giving away FREE PIZZA. No kidding.
They’ll be at their regular Wednesday night spot at the Great Divide Tap Room from 5-9 tonight, and if you can wait that long, they’ll be giving away free pizzas from 7-8. If you’ve never done yourself the favor of enjoying a Basic Kneads pie, make tonight the night. These guys know pizza, and always have a wide selection of mouthwatering meaty and veggie options alike, and if I’m remembering correctly, they even toss a gluten free crust, if that’s your thing!
I’ve had several Basic Kneads pies and they’ve all been remarkable. And if I can make a li’l change in my own plans for the evening, I plan to add to that list tonight. I hope you’ll join me.
Congrats, Basic Kneads! Y’all do amazing work and I cannot wait to lay my eyes on this new machine!
