Busy few months around these parts, people. Light posting to say the very least. Happily, the folks at the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN for short) have offered to take over the posting responsibilities here at DSF – at least as far as their AWESOME upcoming event is concerned. Read on to learn more about the ginormo food pod they’ve got brewing, and mark your calendar for October 16th. Civic Center Eats is gone for the season, but this is in your future. Eat up!
Are you too broke to travel? Are you fed up with looking at Facebook albums of friends’ trekking in Mongolia and hitchhiking in Cuba? If so, you can satisfy your travel bug this October with Snack Attack – Capitol Hill’s food truck festival. Snack attack will serve food from around the globe – sausages from Germany, Chinese chicken, and Southern BBQ. So grab your camera, fanny pack and travel journal and head to Snack Attack for an adventure of a lifetime.
Snack Attack is sponsored by the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, Inc. – a nonprofit that works to make Capitol Hill an even better place to live. Snack Attack will take place on October 16th from 11am – 4pm at Morey Middle School (13th and Emerson). Better yet, Snack Attack will not require you to remove your shoes and belts before entering nor will it require you to put liquids, gels and aerosols in a plastic bag.
Capitol Hill collage artist Meg Worner said, “I want to go on an epic trip to Latin America, but until I get a “real job” and can afford it, Snack Attack is the next best thing.” Worner says that she’s going to “practice traveling” by bringing her backpacking gear to Snack Attack.
In addition to sampling food from distant places, Snack Attack is a chance to learn about CHUN and how to improve your own neighborhood. Matt Clemmons, a 24 year-old barista in Capitol Hill said, “Unless my latte foam designs really improve and the tips start flowing in, I’m not traveling anywhere for a while. So at least I want to make Cap Hill a sweet place to stay.”
If you are feeling restless, jet set to Snack Attack on Sunday, October 16th. There, you can eat global cuisine and snap some of your own photos to create a brag-worthy album about your adventures right in Capitol Hill.
