And a final post from the street food freaks planning SNACK ATTACK! Be there or go hungry!
Are you suffering from Civic Center Eats Withdrawal (CCEW)? You’re not alone, CCEW is a common affliction suffered by many Denver residents no longer able to dine on the amazing collection of food carts that gathered in Civic Center Park every Tuesday and Thursday this summer. On September 29th Denver residents mourned the end of the Civic Center Eats season in many different ways. Some were angry, others simply denied that the event was gone, wandering the park asking mailboxes for cheeseburgers or tacos.
“At first I was just in denial that I couldn’t polish off a Stick it To Me kabob and then immediately follow up with a Gigi’s cupcake. Then I just felt angry for not being able to eat at Civic Center Eats well into the Fall,” said chronic CCEW sufferer Sophie Glass.
Many suffering from CCEW are looking for something to fill the food truck sized void in their life. Social workers and volunteers around the city are working hard to tell those in need about a new cure called the Snack Attack Food Cart Festival .
“Snack Attack is a festival put on by the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) for all those in need of serious food cart snackage. On October 16th all Denverites suffering from CCEW should report immediately to the Morey Middle School on the corner of Emerson and 13th ave. You will be immediately administered everything from BBQ to chicken dumplings to ease your suffering,” implores medical professional and CCEW activist Jonah Fruchter.
In addition to curing many Denver residents of what ails them, CHUN is the producer of the Capitol Hill People’s Fair and is your neighborhood organization working to ‘Preserve the Past, Improve the Present” and Plan for the Future of Greater Capitol Hill’.
“We are delighted to host this event and look forward to connecting with all the residents of Greater Capitol Hill, in an effort to make our neighborhoods a better place to live, work and play. Aside from eating great food, we hope our neighbors realize there’s a way to get involved with CHUN whether you are a ’20-something’ or ’50-something,’” said Roger Armstrong Director of CHUN.
You can learn more about how to stop the CCEW outbreak at Snack Attack’s Facebook page or visit CHUN’s website for more details about how to become a member and get involved with this amazing organization. You can contact CHUN at 303-830-1651.
